New Delhi, July 18: IndiGo, India’s largest domestic airline, will shift all its arrival and departure operations at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, to the newly constructed Terminal 2 (T2) from 12:01 a.m. on July 20, 2026. The transition marks a significant step in the phased operationalisation of the airport’s modern integrated terminal.

From July 20 onwards, all IndiGo passengers travelling to or from Guwahati will use Terminal 2 for check-in, security screening, boarding and arrivals. Airport authorities have advised travellers to report directly to the new terminal instead of the existing facility and verify their flight details with the airline before leaving for the airport.

The new Terminal 2 has been developed to enhance passenger convenience, operational efficiency and airport capacity, supporting the rapid growth in air traffic across Northeast India. Designed with a bamboo-inspired architectural theme, the terminal reflects Assam’s cultural heritage while incorporating modern infrastructure, sustainable construction practices and internationally recognised design standards.

To ensure a seamless transition, the airport has deployed additional passenger assistance staff, installed prominent wayfinding signage and strengthened information and guidance systems across the terminal complex. Passengers have also been advised to arrive well in advance to complete check-in and security formalities smoothly during the initial days of operations.

The migration of IndiGo, which operates the largest share of domestic air traffic in India, is expected to significantly increase passenger movement through Terminal 2 while reinforcing Guwahati Airport’s position as the primary aviation gateway to the Northeastern region. The expanded terminal is expected to improve connectivity, support future traffic growth and provide a world-class airport experience.

The operational shift forms part of the airport’s long-term strategy to expand infrastructure, improve passenger services and strengthen regional air connectivity in line with India’s growing aviation sector.

The transfer of IndiGo’s Guwahati operations to Terminal 2 represents an important milestone in the modernisation of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, enhancing passenger comfort, operational efficiency and the airport’s capacity to serve Northeast India’s growing aviation needs.
