New Delhi, July 01: India’s passenger vehicle market maintained strong momentum in June 2026, with leading automobile manufacturers reporting healthy sales supported by robust domestic demand, expanding exports, and sustained customer confidence.
Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, crossed the 2 lakh-unit sales milestone, reinforcing its leadership in the Indian automobile market.
The company reported total sales of 200,390 units during June 2026, comprising 150,150 units sold in the domestic market, 7,472 units supplied to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and 42,768 units exported. The strong export performance further reflects the growing global demand for vehicles manufactured in India.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) also delivered a strong monthly performance by reporting 31,016 total vehicle sales, representing a 7% year-on-year increase compared with 28,869 units sold in June 2025.
Toyota’s June sales included 28,441 units in the domestic market and 2,575 export units, demonstrating balanced growth across both domestic and overseas markets.
Commenting on the performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company continues to witness positive momentum driven by strong customer demand and its customer-centric approach. He added that the New Innova Crysta, featuring refreshed styling and enhanced design elements, has received an encouraging response from customers for its value proposition.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India reported total monthly sales of 51,335 units in June 2026, including 39,635 domestic sales and 11,700 export units.
Despite facing operational challenges during the month, Hyundai maintained healthy sales performance. Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the company experienced a production loss of approximately 13,900 units following a fire incident at one of its supplier’s manufacturing facilities, which temporarily disrupted the supply of critical components.
Hyundai responded by sourcing components from alternative suppliers and successfully restored normal production across all manufacturing facilities from June 22, 2026. The company expects to recover the production shortfall during the second quarter of FY27, highlighting the resilience of its supply chain and manufacturing operations.
The June sales figures indicate that India’s passenger vehicle industry continues to benefit from strong consumer demand, improving export opportunities, and manufacturers’ ability to effectively manage supply chain challenges. The positive performance also reflects growing optimism in the domestic automotive sector as companies expand product portfolios and strengthen production capabilities.
Conclusion
The June 2026 sales performance demonstrates the resilience of India’s automobile industry, with Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, and Hyundai Motor India delivering robust sales despite operational challenges. Strong domestic demand, rising exports, and effective supply chain management continue to support the sector’s growth outlook, positioning the industry for sustained momentum in the coming quarters.
