The government on Monday issued frequently asked questions (FAQs) on Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Act, 2025 under the Ministry of Rural Development to provide a detailed explainer on India’s rural employment and development legislation aimed at aligning rural development with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047‘ by providing a statutory guarantee of 125 days of unskilled wage employment to rural households and promoting the creation of productive rural assets.


Q1 . What is the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act, 2025?

Ans : It is a rural employment law introduced by the Government of India to provide guaranteed wage employment and promote rural development in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047

Q2 . When will the Act come into force?

Ans : The Act will come into effect from 1 July 2026.

Q3 . Which scheme will it replace?

It will replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

Q4 . Will it be implemented across all states?

Yes, it will be implemented simultaneously across all states.

Q5 . How many days of employment are guaranteed ?

Ans : It guarantees 125 days of wage employment per financial year.

Q6 . Who is eligible for employment under this Act?

Ans : Every rural household whose adult members are willing to do unskilled manual work.

Q7 . What happens to ongoing MGNREGA works ?

Ans : They will continue and be completed under the new Act without interruption.

Ans : By applying at the Gram Panchayat with details of household members.

Ans : They can apply:
Orally
In writing
Through digital platforms
at the Gram Panchayat or to authorized officials.

Q13. Within how many days must employment be provided?

Ans : Within 15 days of application.

Q14 . What happens if employment is not provided within 15 days?

Ans : The worker is entitled to an unemployment allowance.

Q15 . What is the unemployment allowance ?

Ans : First 30 days: At least 1/4th of wage rate
After 30 days: At least 1/2 of wage rate

Q16 . How are wages paid?

Ans : Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into bank or post office accounts.

Q18 . What if wages are delayed?

Ans : Workers get 0.05% compensation per day of delay.

Ans : Yes, enhanced wage rates will be notified. Until then, current rates will continue.

Ans : Through face authentication-based attendance, with backup systems for technical issues.
