New Delhi, Sept 05: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has completed the development of India’s largest underground rock cavern for LPG storage in Mangalore, Karnataka, for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).
This cavern, located beneath pre-existing surface facilities, has a capacity of 80,000 MT, making it the single largest LPG cavern in India.
The project’s innovative design optimizes land use for dual purposes. EIL provided EPCM consultancy, including project management, basic and detailed engineering, construction supervision, and commissioning assistance. The successful completion of this project enhances India’s LPG storage infrastructure and energy security.
