New Delhi, Sep 03 Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Ministry of Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav inaugurated the Departmental Summit on ‘National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building in States’ in New Delhi.
He underscored the government’s commitment to a resilient healthcare framework, the development of state-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the integration of Ayush with modern health systems. The National Ayush Mission, since 2014, has advanced affordable Ayush healthcare, notably through the establishment of 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs focusing on preventive healthcare.
The Ministry also launched Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for Ayush facilities to ensure uniformity and quality. Ayurveda Day will now be observed annually on September 23rd, with this year’s theme being “Ayurveda for People and Planet.” A Project Management Unit (PMU) has been operationalized at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) to assist with Ayush-related insurance matters, and the ‘Ayurvidya Advanced Centre’ was inaugurated to enhance Ayurveda education and communication.
Dr. V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, emphasized Ayush’s role in building a ‘Swasth Bharat’ and achieving national development goals, advocating for increased life expectancy through an integrated approach. Key action points include strengthening Ayush education, promoting wellness tourism, and encouraging private sector participation.
Secretary, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, highlighted the ‘Har Ghar Ayuryog’ initiative for household health and stated the summit’s aim to drive integration through behavioral change and policy implementation. The summit serves as a platform for discussing state-specific feedback to strengthen the National Ayush Mission.
