World Academy of Productivity Science, a professional body honoured NLC with a Prestigious Productivity Award

New Delhi Sep 22 The World Academy of Productivity Science, a professional body honoured NLC with a Prestigious Productivity Award for its significant contribution in the field of productivity.

The World Academy of Productivity (WAPS) is comprised of individuals (rather than Organisation). Members of the Academy are individuals to support the aim of the Confederation and who wish to contribute to its work but crucially Fellows of the Academy are selected eminent, internationally recognised to the field of Productivity Science. WAPS is a most important arm of the World Confederation of Productivity Science (WCPS), promoting the global cause of power and prosperity through productivity.

To commemorate the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of WAPS and WCPS, the Academy organised a special function at the India International Centre, New Delhi on 20th September 2014. During the function, the Academy recognised the organisations which have made significant contributions in the field of productivity and also awarded Fellowship of the Academy to persons of distinction.

To honour NLC, for its highest productivity a special award was presented to the company by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Steel, Mines, Labour and Employment. Shri B.Surender Mohan, CMD, NLC received the prestigious award during the function in the presence of Shri S.K.Srivastava, Secretary , Ministry of Coal, Government of India, Dr. M.P.Narayanan, Former CMD, NLC and Coal India Ltd., and also the Chairman of Silver Jubilee Committee of WAPS and Dr.A.N.Saxena, Executive Vice President, WAPS. And Shri Abdul Kalam, President, WCPS India and also former CMD, Eastern Coalfields Ltd.

Right from the inception of the company, NLC is maintaining high productivity, when compared to the organisations with similar business. While the National Average Plant Load Factor (PLF) of Thermal Power Stations is around 75% , NLC Power Stations are maintaining a PLF of above 80%. In mining sector also the average output per employee per shift is regularly raising year by year. These efforts made the Company to win the Prestigious Productivity Award.
