New Delhi, Sep 03 The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) plans to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) as a repository for best practices from UPSC and State Public Service Commissions (PSCs) to coincide with its Centenary year celebrations from October 1, 2025, to October 1, 2026.
Announced by UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar during a meeting with State PSC Chairpersons and Members, the CoE will function as a knowledge hub for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), innovations, and key takeaways.
Dr. Kumar emphasized the need for active State PSC contributions and invited suggestions for the CoE, which is intended to benefit not only UPSC and State PSCs but also other national recruitment bodies. He highlighted the robust nature of India’s recruitment system and the UPSC’s historical role since its establishment on October 1, 1926.
The meeting also touched upon the success of the ‘Pratibha Setu’ portal for wider talent utilization. State PSCs suggested increasing awareness about public service examinations in aspirational districts through outreach, awareness campaigns, and mentoring to ensure inclusivity and equity.
UPSC Member Dr. Dinesh Dasa encouraged participation in exhibitions and awareness programs for the centenary celebrations, noting the unprecedented invitation for State PSC Members to participate. Twenty-seven State PSCs participated virtually and pledged full cooperation.
