New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) The Sashastra Seema Bal has evacuated 400 people from the flood-affected Uttar Pradesh villages along the India-Nepal border, an official said on Wednesday.
“Our rescue and relief team of sector headquarters in Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) has evacuated approximately 400 civilians to safe places from the flood-affected villages under Laxmipur block of district Maharajganj,” the SSB official said.
The rescue operation was conducted in Amahawa, Marchahwa, Marchirihwa, Gidha, Kudihwa, Dandnhwa, Ahrhwa Kurd, Ahrhwa Kala, Kasipur, Raghunathpur, Mathiwa Eiduh and Bisuhwa villages.
Heavy and incessant rains have lashed the India-Nepal border area for the last few days, swelling all major rivers, tributaries and seasonal rivulets in SSB’s operational areas beyond danger mark affecting the villages badly.
