New Delhi, Feb 27: : Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Maharatna public sector enterprise, has announced the appointment of Suman Kumar as Director (Planning & Business Development) with effect from the afternoon of February 26, 2025. The appointment follows the approval of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG) as per its letter dated February 25, 2025.
Kumar, aged 56, is a seasoned industry professional with over three decades of experience at Indian Oil across various domains, including LPG operations, sales, energy conservation, and carbon emission mitigation. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from MIT Muzaffarpur and an MBA from a reputed Indian university. In addition, he has completed an Advanced Management Programme and multiple specialized courses in business development.
Prior to his elevation as Director (Planning & Business Development), Kumar led Indian Oil’s Exploration & Production (E&P) division, which manages assets in India and nine other countries. He has also served as the head of the Gas business, where he played a crucial role in LNG sourcing and the conceptualization of new projects. His leadership has significantly contributed to the growth of the company’s petrochemical, city gas distribution, and renewable energy businesses.Indian Oil organises workshop on catalysing corporate partnerships for indoor solar cooking system
In addition to his new role, Kumar serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Mercator Petroleum Limited, an E&P company acquired under insolvency proceedings, and is a nominee director on the boards of several overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries.
Indian Oil Corporation has also confirmed that Suman Kumar is not related to any other director of the company and is not debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority.
