Shri Subir Das, Director (Mines), NLCIL  at the Valedictory Function of Cleanliness Fortnight’2017


The Valedictory function of the Cleanliness Fortnight’2017 (16.08.2017-31.08.2017)was held (31.08.2017) at Neyveli Learning & Development Centre. ShriSubir Das, Director(Mines) and ShriR.Vikraman,Director(HR) graced the occasion. NLCIL through its Corporate Social Responsibility Cell, the Education Department, Volunteer Organisations, Self Help Groups and the public had organized the fifteen day event with the message of cleanliness with focus on women and children.ShriSubir Das in his valedictory address thanked the employees for their contributions apart from regular duties and said that, the work on maintainingcleanliness should continue. Preserving the water bodies for the benefit people of nearby villagesthrough desilting of the river,lakes and ponds has been a priority for the company.The Director had a word of appreciation for the students and their teachers for the involvement during the fortnight.Battery operated buses will replace diesel version soon at Neyveli, he added.

ShriVikraman joined him in giving away prizes to the students who won in various competitions on the subject. The contributions by members of the volunteer organisations and the Women In Public Sector (WIPS) were also appreciated with trophies. Mine-II won the first place and were awarded  the Best Performer Award while the Mine Sub-Stores and Mine-IA shared the second place. In thermal category Thermal Power Station Iand  TPS-II Expansion got the first and second place. Shri J. Peter James, GM/CSR presented the report on the activities of the fortnight. Around 300 seedlings of Palm were sowed at the banks of the lake at per periyankuppam to prevent soil erosion. Shri R. Mohan, CGM (CSR,SDC&Edn) welcomed the gathering and Shri I. Nedumaran, DGM(Edn) proposed vote of thanks.

On the concluding day (31.08.2017) of the cleanliness fortnight, NLCIL organized campaigns. .At PoolamBadi, the volunteers of the Ramakrishna SevaSangam, Corporate Social Responsibility team, parents –teachers’association, students of the Panchayat Union Middle School and the public organized a mass rally and lecture to create awareness on “Open Defecation Free” and Personal Hygiene. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition conducted on the subject. Shri :Panneerselvam, Head Master of the school,ShriDhandapani and ShriKennady of RKSS spoke on the subject. PalliNeerOdai: The awareness campaign was organized near the ArivzhuThiruKovilManadapam .Officials of NLCIL,CSR, People Service Group, Students,public went on a rally with banners ,followed by a skit, cultural program about using sanitary toilets and distributed cleaning kit to the public.Shri Ravi, Development Officer of Kurinjipadi Panchayat spoke on personal hygiene.Therkiruppu: Neyveli Blood Donor’s Association, Students of the Government Aided School,Teachers , and the public carried placards in a rally followed by a demonstration about effectively cleaning hands and At Chatramthe members of the Association of Blood Donors’ Associations coordinated the event.
