Neelam Singh Senior Journalist and Editor Doordarshan news, wins life time achievement award

New Delhi, April 01 : Mr S Venkat Narayan, Mr Parvez Ahmed and Ms Neelam Mahajan Singh are prominent among seven journalists who received the 2021 Aalami TV’s awards for excellence, distinguished service to media and journalism last night at the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia at the hands of Dr Kabir Siddiqui, the owner of the network that is popular among expat Indians in the middle east , north America, Europe and india.
Ms. Neelam Mahajan Singh, was senior News Correspondent/ Editor of Doordarshan News Division, Prasar Bharti, has won the lifetime achievement in journalism.
Media Excellence Awards :
Mr. S Venkat Narayan, a former Editor of India Today, a product of Osmania university Hyderabad, is a distinguished journalist and veteran commentator on the geo political situation in the world and on strategic affairs in the sub-continent. He serves as a mentor to many young journalists in the country. He receives the excellence award for his distinguished contribution to the print and electronic media.
Ms. Neelam Mahajan Singh, she is a renowned human rights advocate besides having served in the noted TIMEs group of publications as its CorpCom head. She is already the winner of the Ram Manohar Lohia award for excellence in journalism , the first lady scribe to win it. She is known for her work in the field of women’s empowerment and human rights protection.
Mr. Parvez Ahmed has won the award for his contribution in the field of art , culture and media. He is a playwright, author, and a scholar in political history, known for his works Bhartiya Shakti & Meri Pyari Maa. He is a well-respected media personality in the field of theatre art and culture and media.
Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik, a path breaker in Hindi journalism, founder editor of PTI Bhasha, and former Editor of Navbharat Times of the Times group, wins the award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Hindi journalism, he is renowned for his commentary on global political scenario and indo Pakistan affairs.
Trilok Deep , a doyen in of Hindi journalism, is credited for his incisive interviews with veteran politicians, presidents and prime ministers of the country. He is known for his interview with frontier Gandhi , Khan Abdul Ghafoor khan. His presence in social media with his posts on contemporary developments have caught the attention of many distinguished people.
Prof Danish Iqbal, a veteran broadcaster, wins the award for his work in the electronic media. He is a renowned theater personality, playwright, author, educator and researcher in cultural affairs. He has worked with the doyens of theatre from Utpal Dutt to M S Sathyu, to Muzaffar ali.
Danish has to his credit more than 14 national awards including the prestigious Ghalib Award, and Mohan Rakesh Samman award.
Mr. T N Ashok , a former Economics Editor of PTI and Chief of bureau , wins the Special Award for Media Excellence in Journalism having completed 50 years in the profession this year. He has travelled with Presidents, Vice presidents and Prime Ministers on overseas assignments besides covering the historic international conferences such as the Earth Summit at Rio De Janeiro and the path breaking inaugural WTO ministerial summit at Singapore. He has appeared on TV interviews on contemporary topics besides serving as the Executive Editor of a pune based publication Corporate Tycoons. He took a break from journalism and served the corporate world for the New York based Burson and Marstellar and the French Engineering firm Alstom as its Communications Director besides working for the Hamburg based Log (India) as its Resident Editor in Delhi. He writes extensively on economics, business and finance.
The awards were presented at a glittering function at the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia last evening the founder Editor of Aalami TV , Dr Kabir Siddiqui, a veteran journalist who has interacted with leading personalities of art, culture and cinema in his more than 30-year stint in broadcast journalism. The 30 year channel known for its reportage on art, culture and cinema has high visibility on the internet Face Book, Instagram and is popular among the Indian community in the Middle East, Europe and North America.
