Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has installed a 53 kWp grid connected rooftop solar project at its Corporate Office in Kolkata as a maiden step towards fulfilment of the Government of India’s target for installation of 40 GW rooftop solar power plants by the year 2022. The plant was inaugurated by Shri. A.W.K. Langstieh, Chairman, DVC and Shri Atul Sobti, CMD, BHEL on 16th December 2016.
The solar rooftop project of DVC has 180 nos of multi-crystalline PV module of 300W laid across an area of 510 sq. meter. This rooftop power plant with Net-metering facility will reduce the monthly energy bill of the corporate office where more than 1000 employees work.
Solar sources of energy is clean and does not contribute to climate change. Renewable power projects are the future and with this project the power behemoth of Eastern India is aiming for big strides in solar energy generation which is one of the main avenues of renewable power.
