Modi’s Delhi Tea Party and Cabinet Expansion

By TN Ashok

New Delhi, Nov 08 : Modi’s Delhi Party is going to become as famous as America’s Boston Tea Party- difference, Modi’s Tea Party is for expanding his 60 member cabinet and the Boston Tea party was for protesting British Taxes on tea .

Modi has invited several BJP leaders and prominent MPs for a tea party, the 2nd such in six months,  today before his cabinet exp-ansion that takes place for the 1st time since his take over as PM six months ago.

Two names have been confirmed : Manohar Parrikar who resigns at Goa CM today and flies to Delhi to be sworn in as the Defence minister, a portfolio hitherto handled by Finance Minister Arun jaitley who has just recovered from a major illness.   Ahead of the budget in three months time, Jaitley is being lightened from his heavy duties and asked to concentrate on the budget which is again likely to be forward looking statement.

Hansraj Ahir, who busted the coal allocation scandal of the UPA government in Parliament , is being rewarded as the Coal Minister in view of his deep knowledge on the subject. Modi’s government is removing all bottlenecks and no decision making that led to policy paralysis of the UPA government – first he fixed the gas prices at US $ 5 dollars and now he wants to resolve the imbroglio of coal blocks cancellation by going for new auctions.

The new auctions done in albeit very transparent manner under a new formula itself may yield a revenue of rs 70,000 crore fixed income to the government every year, it is learnt.  Also, if this is done in a year, Modi would have solved the power crisis caused by non operation of over 40,000 MW installed capacity in power plants hit by lack of gas and coal.

Tea party invitees likely to become ministers are : Modi invites them to parties and tells them you are now becoming a minister and serve the people. Suresh Prabhu of Shiv Sena who is now special envoy of PM for the Brisbane G20 Summit.  Mukhtar Abbaqas Naqvi , formerly a BJP I & B Minister, Jayant Sinha, son of former BJP Minister Yashwant Sinha, Giriraj Singh and Ram Kirpal Yadav from Bihar, Haryana Jat leader Birennder Singh.

Giving representation to Punjab and Rajasthan, Modi is likely to induct Col Sonaram Chaudhary and , Gajendra Singh Shekawat and Vijay Sampla. To accommodate ally TDP, the PM may induct YS Chaudhary and CM Ramesh, whose names have been forwarded reportedly by the Andhra CM Chandra babu Naidu.

Modi has also offered two slots to the ally Shiv Sena which demanded four  berths in the cabinet. The demand for a Deputy CM has been put in cold storage.
