Mobile updates on government school students’ performance

New Delhi, Sep 12 Parents of students studying in government and government-aided schools will soon get mobile updates on their child’s performance, it was announced.
As part of an initiative by the human resource development (HRD) ministry titled “Shaala Darpan”, parents of students of government and government-aided schools can “through a mobile application access updates on their child’s progress regarding attendance, assignments, and achievements”.
HRD Minister Smriti Irani said: “Work on Shaala Darpan has commenced. We hope to introduce it in the next academic session.”
At a press conference highlighting the new initiatives taken by the ministry in the first 100 days, it was also announced that GIS mapping of schools at elementary as well as secondary level was initiated and completed for 13 states.
Work is currently underway for another eight states. This enables mapping infrastructure gaps and responding to the felt needs of the people in providing schooling facilities.
