Vrindavan, 17th August, 2016 :  The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas through IndianOil’s Mathura Refinery  today joined hands to set –up India’s largest Sewage Treatment Plant at Mathura that will purify sewage from Mathura and Vrindavan and the treated water will be used by the Refinery for its industrial use.  Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister, Road Transport, & Highways and Shipping, in the presence of Sushree Uma Bharati, Hon’ble Minister for Water Resource, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas  and  Ms. Hema Malini, Hon’ble MP, Mathura laid foundation for the state-of-the –Art  Sewage Treatment Plant which will be set-up at a cost of Rs 40 crore.Yamuna will be gaining doubly by this effort. The treated effluent water which was so far being discharged in Yamuna will not be discharged there and will be entirely used by the Refinery. Moreover the quantity of water which was being drawn by the refinery for processing purposed will not be required.Shri B Ashok, Chairman , IndianOil and Shri  S M Vaidya, GM I/C, Mathura Refinery were also present on the occasion.

In his address, Hon’ble Hon’ble Union Minister, Road Transport, & Highways and Shipping, Shri Shri Nitin Gadkari said that this initiative is a praiseworthy step towards realizing  the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister to make holy Ganga and Yamuna.

Sushree Uma Bharati, Hon’ble Minister for Water Resource, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation thanked Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for this initiative for  setting up of an Effluent Treatment
Plant and using the treated water for use in IndianOil’sl Mathura Refinery.

Addressing the large gathering, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), MoPNG also appreciated IndianOil’s role in setting up of the Effluent Treatment Plant at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 crore in Mathura and joining hands with Ministry of Water Resources. He said that the efforts will also be made to convert the solid waste cleaned from polluted Yamuna water into energy for industrial and agricultural use. Shri Pradhan assured that the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas will support the Namami Gange Project by all means.He also explained the modalities of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and said that the scheme would impact the lives of women from BPL families in a major way by reducing the drudgery of cooking with polluting fuels and go a long way in reducing indoor pollution and other health related problems being faced by them. He said that MoPNG is committed towards 100% LPG penetration in Mathura district; for both BPL & APL families. He said that in the last 100 days around 50 lac LPG connections under PMUY scheme have already been distributed.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has taken a series of welfare oriented schemes. Hon’ble Prime Minister in his address on 27th March 2015 had made an appeal to well-to-do families to give up their subsidy on LPG connections so that the money thus saved can be utilized for giving connections to less privileged homes. Taking the appeal forward, MOP&NG launched the ‘Give It Up’ campaign and  in little over an year’s time  more than 1 crore people across the country from all walks of life, including those from middle class have come forward to support this initiative bringing smiles to a million homes. Another scheme by The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, which had received worldwide recognition is the immensely successful “PAHAL Yojana”. This direct cash transfer scheme effectively curbed the leakage of LPG subsidies, ensuring a more focused reach. The scheme has been highly effective in eliminating duplicate LPG connections. The “PAHAL” scheme has been acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cash transfer program (households) in the world. Currently, close to 16 crore LPG customers are receiving their subsidy directly in to their bank accounts.

With 2016 being declared as the ‘Year of Consumers’ by Mr.Dharmendra Pradhan, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has ensured that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) offer customer centric offerings like Sahaj – the online booking and release of new connections, the online booking and payment for LPG refills, ‘1906’- the 24×7 LPG leakage Emergency telephone helpline, to name a few.
