Hyundai Motor India &IndianOil Corporation Ltd. Sign MoU to Explore Viability of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehiclesfor Mass-Use
New Delhi, April 22: The Hyundai NEXO Hydrogen FCEV to be used for on-ground trials in India
- This MoU is a part of HMIL’s roadmap of developing India’s Green Hydrogen Sector
- HMIL hands over one Hyundai NEXO Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) to IndianOil for a viability study
- HMIL and IndianOil will evaluate the longevity and operational reliability of Hydrogen FCEV over 2 years via real-world tests in Indian conditions
- HMIL and IndianOil will also conduct a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessment to determine operational and maintenance costs, simulating private usage
Gurugram | April 23, 2025: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s leading smart mobility solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IndianOil Corporation ltd., India’s largest energy company,to explore the viability for mass-use of Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles in India. As part of the MoU, HMIL has handed over one Hyundai NEXO Hydrogen FCEV to IndianOilfor conducting real-world tests on Indian roads.
During the two-year trial period, HMIL and IndianOil will evaluate longevity and operational reliability over an estimated distance of 40,000 km. A Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessment, including periodic maintenance, will also be conducted to provide critical insights into the long-term economic and environmental benefits of adopting hydrogen-powered vehicles for the Indian market.
