Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City undertake tree plantation program under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”

Nagpur, Sep 23 A tree plantation program was conducted by Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City. On this occasion Commissioner of Police said that tree planting program is being carried out under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” program which is being promoted by Media organization Sarkaritel.com for promoting water conservation and environment protection under the National Water Mission under the aegis of Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

Dr. Ravinder Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur said tree plantation program was carried out with the cooperation of Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief, Sarkaritel.com Ameya Sathaye and Convenor of Jal Prahari, Anil Singh. He also wished them to continue doing similar programs in the future to protect the environment.

Addressing the trainees Dr Singal said “It is to make up for the damage to the environment by planting trees in different places and to make proper use of water by conserving water. It is our responsibility not only to plant trees but also to protect them. Trees provide us with selfless continuous supply of oxygen for life, also the balance of the environment is maintained by trees, they save the land from erosion and also help in reducing air pollution incidence. This helps in balance of temperature in nature is maintained by trees, for this every tree It should be planted and conserved” he said

Addressing the gathering “I understand the importance of community policing in addressing issues related to the environment. The success of these initiatives was a result of the involvement of people from all walks of life and their willingness to volunteer in projects related to water conservation.”

Besides being a police officer and his passion to work for clean environment, Dr. Singal is also taking initative to rejuvinate and revive many water bodies in the city of Nagpur

Also in March 2023, Sarkaritel.com had honoured Dr. Ravinder Singal (IPS) with Jal Prahari Samman with the cooperation of the Ministry of Jal Shakti to honour individual for promoting Water Conservation.

Dr Singal during is tenure as Commissioner of Police in Nashik City and IGP in Aurangabad took initiatives taken  towards water conservation and restoration projects. Through community participation he involved people from all walks of life in campaigns for afforestation and the rejuvenation of water bodies.

As Commissioner of Police in Nashik City, he initiated a campaign to prevent the immersion of Ganapati idols in the river. I involved people from all walks of life to encourage them to use potassium bicarbonate for idol immersion. Volunteers collected the idols from immersion sites and handed them over to the Nashik Municipal Corporation. This initiative helped to collect lakhs of idols from various points and prevent river pollution.

During his stint as IGP Aurangabad, to address water deficit, Marathwada he took social projects to rejuvenate water bodies. The process involved village people volunteering, which increased the water table in all those bodies in four villages like Bidkin in Aurangabad, Kasarwadi in Jalna district, Tadsona village & Hadogri village. This project happened under community policing and enhanced relations between people and the police

He also held a water conference called Paani Parishad, under which experts from different parts of the country were invited to speak about water conservation.

Dr Singal took initiative to make a short one minute film, named ‘Badlav’ to spread awareness about the importance of water conservation and to sensitize people about not wasting drinking water. On this occasion, A large number of reserve police inspectors and their staff and newly recruited police officials attended the program.
