New Delhi, May 16: Against International Competitive Bidding (ICB), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order for setting up a coal-based thermal power project in Odisha.
The 1×250 MW coal-based thermal unit will be set up at Rourkela Power Project on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis.
Valued at over Rs.1,600 Crore, the order for the Stage-III of the brownfield power project, located in Rourkela district of Odisha, has been placed on BHEL by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Private Limited (NSPCL), a Joint Venture of NTPC & SAIL.
BHEL had earlier executed the coal-based 2×250 MW Bhilai Expansion power plant for NSPCL. BHEL is the leading supplier of power plant equipment to NTPC and its Joint Ventures, having contributed more than 80% share of their coal based installed capacity.
BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing & commissioning of the 1×250 thermal power plant on EPC basis.
