New Delhi, Sep 22 President Pranab Mukherjee is registering a strong presence on the world of web to connect to millions of Indians in the country and abroad.

After making himself available on the Facebook and Youtube, invites for a concert at Rashtrapati Bhawan by noted singer Shubha Mudgal on September 22 were sent in e-format. This was the first such initiative and more are in pipeline.

Earlier within a day of his swearing in, the President was on Facebook.  The Facebook account provides a platform for people to air their grievances with an assurance that genuine issues would be addressed.

The President’s daily engagements are on the popular networking site, which also carry photographs of important events. The aim is to keep pace with modern times when Internet has become common tool of communication.

People can also leave suggestions or pending grievances on the ‘wall’ of Facebook for the first citizen of the country. Appropriate action under Information and Technology Act would be taken against people who abuse the President’s account on the Facebook. Adequate checks and balances had been ensured to ensure there is no misuse.
