New Delhil May 07 : Sangeeta Nayak, Chairperson of POWERGRID Mahila Samaj, Srishti, along with other members of the Samiti, visited UDAAN, the vocational centre being run by POWERGRID under its CSR initiatives, in collaboration with AROH Foundation,Delhi. AROH Foundation provides vocational training in computers and stitching/ cutting/ tailoring/ embroidery to the youth & women belonging underprivileged & marginalized sections of the society.

Sangeeta Nayak encouraged the trainees at the centre to make the best use of the free-of-cost learning opportunity being provided at their doorstep. She appreciated the work being done by the women under training, and urged them to focus on quality to capture an assured market for their work.

Project UDAAN is being implemented by “AROH Foundation” and aims to provide skill development and vocational training for sustainable livelihood of the underprivileged youth and women. They are taught basic computer and English speaking courses which help the youth in increasing their employability skills. Semi-literate & illiterate women are provided skill development in cutting, tailoring and embroidery, after which they can become self employed and generate income for their household.

The CSR activities by POWERGRID are the manifestation of its commitment towards inclusive development of the society. POWERGRID is a unique organization having its presence not only all over the country, but also in remotest of the remote areas of the country. Keeping its unique character in view, the CSR domain of POWERGRID is very diverse and encourages social welfare projects nearby its establishments.
