New Delhi, July 12 : In a landmark event which is expected to open new opportunities for monetization of small quantities of gas from small, isolated, marginal fields in the nominated blocks of ONGC, part of which would have otherwise been flared.
CMD ONGC, Sudhir Vasudeva inaugurated the newly developed e-tendering system for sale of gas from Gamij field of Ahmedabad Asset by launching the tender documents on the ONGC tenders website.
This could be achieved as a result of a Government order in this regard which will benefit many small and medium industries located in and around such marginal and isolated fields.
The event was attended by all functional Directors and other senior executives in person, while ED – Asset Manager, Ahmedabad Asset and his team participated in the event through video conferencing from Ahmedabad.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD, who is also officiating as Director (Offshore) – I/c Marketing, underscored the importance of taking steps to quickly monetize gas, especially the associated gas part of which otherwise gets flared from fields like Gamij in Ahmedabad and Koraghat or Nambar fields in Assam.
CMD emphasized that the importance of the event is not only in terms of revenue generation through monetizing stranded gas, but also in terms of reduction of emission of Green House Gases (GHGs) by reducing or eliminating gas flaring.
