New Delhi, April 11 : K. Paramesvaran, an ONGCian at Cauvery Asset, lost all his world of 3 children during the tragic Tsunami that hit the Eastern Coast in the early hours of December 26, 2004.

This brave-heart then embarked on a mission of love, nurture and care with his wife Ms. P Choodamani. Thus was born “Nambikkai “, meaning ‘Hands of Hope’ in Tamil in 2005. An NGO founded, funded and run by the couple, “Nambikkai” houses their extended family of 26 children in their own residential campus. Most of these children had lost their parents during the Tsunami.

K Paramesvaran was recently awarded the prestigious Real Hero of the year 2012 Award by TV18. The award was unique in a sense that no nomination was filed for the same and the organizers identified the NGO for the unparalleled service it had rendered to the humanity.

“You and your wife have set such a benchmark of humanity that no tsunami can wash off even in years to come. I feel proud that an ONGCian has been doing such remarkable and noble work. ONGC would feel honoured and pleased to be associated with your NGO and hence I am approving Rs 10 lakh grant as a small token of our appreciation”, said Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC, while honouring the spirit of ‘Nambikkai’.
