Engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a turnkey substation contract in Uttaranchal, aimed at improving the power supply in the upcoming industrial area in Haridwar.
Valued at nearly Rs.27 Crore, the order for setting up a new 220 kV grid substation in Haridwar, has been placed on BHEL by Uttaranchal Power Corporation Ltd. (UPCL). The project will be commissioned by BHEL in a tight schedule of 15 months.
Prior to this, UPCL had entrusted BHEL with a turnkey contract for setting up a new 220 kV grid substation and extension of an existing 132 kV substation at Ramnagar in Roorkee. Currently under execution, the project is likely to go on stream before the end of calendar year 2004 and will improve power availability in Roorkee and its adjoining areas.
