Govt. directs OMC's to maintain un-interrupted Supply to

Flood Affected Areas

New Delhi, October 05, 2009

Govt today directed the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to maintain the supply of petroleum products specially the cooking and transportation fuels viz. LPG, kerosene and petrol & diesel in the flood affected parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

In a review meeting here today, Petroleum Minister Deora emphasized that the OMCs should put in extra efforts in order that un-interrupted supplies reach the relief camps set up in the areas. OMCs should also mobilize fuel supply to the rescue parties and vehicles in the area, he added.

The Minister was informed that the OMCs have put their marketing network on high alert in order to supply petroleum products in the flood affected parts of these States. District level coordinators in various States are in touch with the State Government officials in the districts.
By and large the supply of petroleum products have been maintained in these areas including the supplies to rescue teams and vehicles as well as the relief camps.

The Minister also asked Oil Companies to undertake relief and rehabilitation as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in keeping with the past traditions. He underlined the need for gearing up to make additional supplies of petroleum products to these areas as and when the requests are received from the concerned State Government.
