Maruti Q2 Net Profit up 43.1 % to Rs 2,626.6 million

Maruti Udyog Limited registered Total Income of Rs 31,490 million (Net of Excise) during the second quarter (Q2) of the
fiscal (July-September 2005), a growth of 15.9 % over the same period last year.
Profit Before Tax went up to Rs 3,862.6 million during Q2 of 2005-06, a growth of 40.3 % over the same period last year. Net Profit stood at Rs
2,626.6 million, up 43.1 % over July-September 2004.
First half
With this, Total Income (Net of Excise) for the first half of the fiscal (April-September 2005) was Rs 58,743.7 million, a growth of 11.4 % compared
to the same period of the previous year. Net Profit stood at Rs 4,891.2 million, up 38.0 % over April-September 2004.
Unit Sales
The company's domestic sales during Q2 (July - Sep 05) grew 8.9 % over the same period last fiscal. The company's market share in the domestic market
during Q2 went up to 55.5 %, from 53.4 % in the same period last year.
In all, the company sold 140,543 vehicles during the quarter, including 11,880 units of exports.

Maruti has been rated first in Sales Satisfaction Survey 2005 conducted by J
D Power Asia Pacific second year in a row.
The company is first also in J D Power Customer Satisfaction Survey 2005, making this the sixth year in a row when it has topped this Survey.
Road Safety
Maruti is planning to set up 15 world-class Maruti Driving Schools across the country, this year. These will be in addition to the three Schools set
up by the company last fiscal. This initiative is part of Maruti's
commitment to road safety.
