GSBA top rankers achievers award bestowed on Dr. A K Balyan, Director (HR), ONGC 

 

New Delhi, Oct 14, 2005

 

The GSBA Top Rankers Achievers Award was conferred upon Dr. A. K. Balyan, Director (HR), ONGC at New Delhi this morning for his invaluable contribution in the field of management. These awards are presented annually to top achievers in the corporate world by Top Rankers, a reputed management consultant in association with Graduate School of Business & Administration (GSBA), a leading Business School. 

The major attributes taken into consideration for determining the attributes of these top achievers include their achievements and contributions in the respective function and general management disciplines. These attributes are listed, examined and benchmarked against the best by a panel of top management experts holding senior positions in the industry and academia. 

In the various categories comprising, the Achievers section, Marketing, Finance and HR, Dr Balyan's contributions in overall management functions were aptly recognized for making a commendable mark not only in HR, but all other functions of management. 

Dr Balyan is not only a top flight HR Professional, but also plays a very proactive role in other business functions of the company including joint ventures of ONGC. He has a big role to play in future and looking at his past record, the intellectual support he has been giving, the respected jury has decided and strongly recommended that he should be given the Top Rankers Achievers Award. He is a top grade professional and holds a lot of respectability in the corporate world. 

As regards the image of ONGC, the recommending panel added that ONGC is a frontrunner in Indian industry that has generated maximum wealth for the nation. Dr. Balyan has contributed a lot taking the organization forward. 

Speaking on the occasion about the "World Class Organizations from an HR Perspective" Dr Balyan said that the challenges lay in demonstrating a world class performance by focusing on the drivers of organizational performance. Elaborating he added that it is neither the physical assets nor the financial capital that are important, but what matters is the intellectual or the human capital, which plays the most significant role in providing the competitive edge. These help in creating value for the society and the same has been amply demonstrated by the fact that several smaller nations with limited natural resources have achieved high level of economic and business development than many nations endowed with rich natural deposits of various resources. World class organizations are those which are driven by speed in terms of service, decision making capabilities and actions, he added.
