Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order of nearly Rs.115 Crore from Petroleum Development Oman which is to be installed at Yibal, located about 500 Kms from Muscat.
This is the second order for compressors received from PDO. The first compressor order, received in June 2004 for PDO’s Lekhwair project, is presently under execution.
This is also the fourth major order received from PDO, Oman. BHEL has recently successfully executed the contract for a 2x70 MW Power Project at Qarn Alam, Oman, which was awarded by PDO in the year 2002. Prior to that, BHEL had set up a 90 MW (3x30 MW) Gas Turbine-based Power Project for PDO in the year 2000.
The compressors for the present contract will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL's unit at Hyderabad while the drive motors will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL's Bhopal unit.
