Top European Commission official to visits India
Brussels, Oct. 25, 2004 (INEP)
Eneko Landaburu, Director General for External Affairs at the European
Commission, embarks on a three-day visit to India on Tuesday to discuss European
Union (EU)-India relations with Indian government officials.
This is his first official visit to India and comes only two weeks before the
EU-India summit which is to be held at the Hague on November 8, EU sources told
INEP in Brussels. Landaburu, whose rank is of secretary level, will pay a
courtesy visit to the Indian Minister for External Affairs K. Natwar Singh and
hold talks with the Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran.
Landaburu will also visit Jaipur to discuss a partnership programme with
local officials. The EU has two partnership programmes worth 160 million euros
with Rajasthan and Chattisgarh on education, health and environment.
