20 member CII Mining delegation visits Canada for exploring investment opportunities

A high powered delegation comprising 20 members from both public and private sector, representing interests in different areas of mining to Canada from 24-29 October, 2006 has been very purposeful and value adding, providing opportunities in establishing contacts, business relationships and exploring investment opportunities.

To promote mutual cooperation for the development of the mining sector, the meetings highlighted India’s capacity and capabilities in mining and mining equipment sector to the Canadian companies.

The Mission provided an excellent opportunity to sensitize Canadian mining companies, equipment manufacturers and technology providers in mining and allied activities including mine safety as also the need for augmenting exploration capabilities over the next decade.

The visit provided a platform to interact with a cross section of institutions, mining companies, authorities regulating the mining activity in Ontario, service providers and financial institutions willing to invest in India and Canada.

The Mission also included interactive sessions and roundtables with leading Canadian mining companies and Toronto Stock Exchange with the objective of discussing business opportunities in India for services including engineering, environmental, reclamation, geo-mapping, health and safety. Scope for joint R&D opportunities was also discussed. Business Opportunities in prospecting, exploration was discussed; including legal and financing information.
