PNB gets Golden Peacock Award 2005

Punjab National Bank is the Winner of Golden Peacock National Training Award - 2005. Hon'ble Minister for Human Resource and Development Shri Arjun Singh presented the award to Sh. S.C. Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank. The award, instituted by the Institute of Directors, New Delhi, is for those who have shown real initiative and commitment to develop such training programmes that offer tangible benefits to the business/organization/community.
PNB, one of the largest nationalized banks with a network of 4512 offices serves over 3.60 crore satisfied customers through 57839 employees. 46515 officials imparted training during the year 2004-05. The Bank is providing training to its staff through Central Staff College in Delhi, IT Centre at Faridabad, 3 Regional Staff Colleges at Panchkula, Lucknow & Mumbai and 7 Zonal Training Centres at Patna, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Delhi, Dehradun, Jaipur & Kozhikode.
The Bank has been laying greater emphasis on developing human capital to transform the bank into frontline technology and service driven entity. Bank is providing training programmes in Core Competency Areas like IT, Foreign Exchange, General Banking, Soft Skills to other Banks/Institutions/RRBs staff in various States.
The bank recognizes that training is one of the key foundations in ensuring overall human development of the staff. The bank has also initiated steps for imparting e-Learning and distance learning programme. Training has prepared the staff technically and emotionally to accept and apply computerization.
