Bhutanese king on two days India visit

 

New Delhi, 23 November 2004

 

His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, King of Bhutan, arrives New Delhi on 24 November, 2004 on a working visit. This will be His Majesty’s first visit after the formation of the United Progressive Alliance government in May this year.

 

During the visit, His Majesty will call on H.E. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President, H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister, Shrimati Sonia Gandhi, President, Congress Party and meet other senior officials of the Government of India. The leaders will hold discussions on bilateral relations and economic cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

Bhutan and India share strong historical and cultural relations, and have traditionally enjoyed close ties of friendship and cooperation. This relationship continues to flourish and strengthen under the wise and farsighted leadership of the two countries through regular interactions and exchange of high-level visits.

 

His Majesty’s visit will strengthen the goodwill, understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation between Bhutan and India.

 

His Royal Highness Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Crown Prince of Bhutan, will accompany His Majesty the King during the visit.
