Sri Lanka tourism promotion at WTM

World Travel Market celebrated its Silver Jubilee this year in London. The event brought together over 5,000 exhibitors from leading travel and tourism companies from 190 countries. 57 Sri Lankan travel and hotel companies took part at the WTM to promote Sri Lanka as a top destination. Several Sri Lankan travel and hotel CEOs made major announcements at the WTM of their new ventures, cooperate plans and strategies, etc. 

Sri Lanka has become a top travel destination among the tourists and top new tour operators are showing great interest in the country. 

UK, Sri Lanka’s biggest tourist generating market recorded 73,000 arrivals up to the first nine months and is expected to increase to over 100,000 by the end of this year. Simultaneously the National Carrier; Sri Lankan Airlines is working to acquire additional slots at Heathrow to allow double daily flights to London or 14 flights a week from London.
