POWERGRID bags
consultancy projects from PSEB worth Rs.1,033 Crore

major Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID), a
Govt. of India Enterprise, has signed a bi-lateral
agreement with Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) for
turnkey execution of 400 ckt. kms of 400kV D/C
transmission lines and four 400kV/220kV substations at an
estimated cost of Rs. 1033 Crore to be completed in phases
from October 2011 to February 2012. |

The agreement was signed by H.L. Tayal, ED (Business
Development), POWERGRID and S.C. Sabharwal, Member
(Transmission) of PSEB in the presence of S. K. Chaturvedi,
CMD, POWERGRID, Directors of the company and senior officials
of PSEB.
As per the agreement, POWERGRID will execute three 400kV/220kV
substations at Muktsar, Makhu, Nakodar and another
2x500/3x315MVA sub-station at Dhuri for evacuation of Power
from PSEB’s Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Station. This would be
the first 400kV system of PSEB. POWERGRID’s Scope of Work
includes design, engineering, tendering, evaluation,
procurement, supervision of erection, project management and
testing & commissioning of the Project.
This is one of the largest consultancy assignments of this
nature bagged by POWERGRID from Punjab State Electricity
Board. POWERGRID is likely to sign another agreement with PSEB
under phase-II for turnkey execution of Transmission System
for evacuation of power from Rajpura Thermal Power Station of
PSEB.
POWERGRID is one of the largest transmission utilities in the
world which owns and operates about 71,500 Ckt Kms of
transmission lines upto 800/765 kV (EHVAC & HVDC) and 120
sub-stations with transformation capacity of about 79,500 MVA.
The annual revenue of POWERGRID through Consultancy
Assignments has grown from Rs. 128 Crores to Rs. 235 Crores
during last five years.
