Essar Shipping FY09 net dips 72% at Rs 77 cr

Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics said its consolidated net profit stood at Rs 77.20 crore, down 72.17 per cent over the same period last year for the year ended March 31, 2009.

The company had a net profit of Rs 263.62 crore for the same period ended March 2008, Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Total operating income of the company rose to Rs 2,602.86 crore for the year under review, from Rs 2,040.53 crore in the same period ended March 2008. Shares of Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics settled at Rs 71.50, up 12.24 per cent on the BSE.
