POWERGRID sign MoU with
MoP for FY 2008-09

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has
been signed between Power Grid and Ministry of Power, Govt. of
India detailing various targets to be achieved during FY
2008-09. The MoU was signed by Anil Razdan, Secretary (Power),
Government of India and Dr. R.P. Singh, Chairman & Managing
Director, POWERGRID.
Physical targets set forth for POWERGRID
in the MoU 2008-09 include addition of about 5,500 Circuit Kms.
of Extra High Voltage transmission lines & about 6,300 MVA of
transformation capacity. This will also facilitate
strengthening of National Power Grid. The financial targets
envisage a Turnover of about Rs. 5,400 Crore, 18% higher than
previous year

POWERGRID, the Central Transmission
Utility of the country, has been consistently rated in the
highest bracket (“Excellent”) based on its actual performance
vis-à-vis the targets in MoU signed with Ministry of Power
since signing of its first MoU in 1993-94.
POWERGRID has been awarded the
prestigious “MoU Excellence Award” by Department of Public
Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises
for six years, i.e. 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2003-04,
2004-05 and 2005-06. For FY 2006-07 also, POWERGRID has been
chosen for the “MoU Excellence Award” and in fact, is the only
utility under Ministry of Power to get the award based on all
round performance.
