Pawan Hans pays dividend of  Rs 8.92 cr

 

New Delhi: March 31, 2008

 

Pawan Hans paid Rs. 8.92 crores (interim dividend for 79.5% equity held by Government of India) to Minister of Civil Aviation, Praful Patel. The cheque was presented by the CMD, Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd R.K. Tyagi.

 

The operating profit increased from Rs. 2.78 crores in 2006-07 to Rs. 8.37 crores in 2007-08. While the net profit after tax rose from Rs. 9.25 crores to Rs. 25.10 crores, the number of helicopters deployed rose from 21 to 24 and the fleet serviceability increased from 66% to 74% in the same period. The revenue hours have also witnessed an increase from 19290 to 21582 hours.

 

During the year 2007-08, 12 AS4 compliant helicopters were offered to ONGC. The updation work of these helicopters was taken up by the engineers and technicians of PHHL. These 12 helicopters also included country's first full time medical evacuation helicopter which have been offered in an offshore configuration.

 

PHHL has already been identified as a nodal agency for creation of heliports at Delhi and Mumbai. Once these heliports are in place, both the metros will have a great boost in helipad activities. The constructions of a helipad at Fata and of a hangar at Gauchar in Uttranchal are in full swing.

 

The company PHHL has recently concluded MOU with IAF with the aim of induction of experienced pilots of IAF while ensuring an exciting career to IAF pilots after their illustrious contribution to the country through the IAF. MOU on similar lines is also being worked out with the Indian Navy.

 

Pawan Hans is also developing a concept on hotline washing of the power lines so that the power tripping in Northern India is minimized during winter months. For this a MOU between PHHL and Power Grid Corporation is under finalisation.

 

During the year PHHL continued providing helicopter services to remote locations like Lakshadweep, A&N Islands and the North-East states including Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura. PHHL continued its services to Kedarnath and from the 3 April 2008, PHHL is starting services from Katra to Vaishnodevi.
