Three POWERGRID projects bag National Awards
New Delhi, March 21, 2008
| Three projects of Power Grid Corporation
of India Limited (POWERGRID) have bagged the prestigious
National Awards for Meritorious Performance instituted by
the Government of India for the year 2006-07.
POWERGRID’s 132 kV Transmission System in North-Eastern
region received the Gold award while Silver awards were
conferred on the 220 kV and |

400 kV Transmission System in Western Region and the
400 kV D/C Kahalgaon-
Patna Ballia Transmission Line.
Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister of Power presented the
awards to Dr. R. P. Singh, CMD, POWERGRID and Executive
Directors of the respective projects at a function held in New
Delhi. Anil Razdan, Secretary (Power) was also present on the
occasion.
As many as 21 organisations, generating companies and
transmission companies were honoured on the occasion for
excellent performance shown by them in the respective areas
during 2006-07. National Awards to power utilities for
meritorious performance have been instituted by the Ministry
of Power, GoI to inculcate competitive spirit and to motivate
the power utilities to achieve higher levels of performance.
