NALCO to set up wind power project in Andhra

Bhubaneswar, 02 June, 2011

State-run National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) Thursday announced to set up a 50.4 MW wind power project in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs.274 crore.

The project, scheduled to be completed in about eight months, will be executed through Suzlon Energy Limited at Gandikota in Kadapa district, said B.L. Bagra, chairman-cum-managing director of the company.

Under the project, 24 wind turbine generators, each of 2.1 MW capacity, will be set up. The NALCO board has approved the project at a meeting held recently.

"The power generated will be sold to the Andhra Pradesh State Grid," Bagra said.
