NTPC is now 30644 MW

| 500 MW Unit #7 of
Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Project- Stage II of NTPC
Limited located in the State of Bihar has been
successfully synchronized. With the commissioning of this
unit the commissioned capacity of Kahalgaon Super Thermal
Power Project is now 2340 MW and the total installed
capacity of NTPC has risen to 30644 MW.
NTPC- Kahalgaon has 4 units of
210 MW each in stage I and 3 units of 500 MW each in stage
II. The Station supplies power to the States of Eastern,
North Eastern, Northern and Western Regions. |

The coal for the station is obtained from Eastern
Coalfields Ltd. and water is sourced from river Ganges.
Recipient of several prestigious Awards in the areas of Safety
and Environment, the project has made a distinct place for
itself amongst the NTPC stations.
NTPC is India’s largest power generation company with 14
coal based, 7 gas based and 4 JV power stations. With 18.79%
of its installed capacity, NTPC contributes around 28.60% of
country’s power generation. The company is poised to become a
50,000 MW Company by 2012
