IndianOil branded fuels sales surge in Delhi

Mumbai, 2nd July 2004: IndianOil’s branded fuels XTRAMILE and XTRAPREMIUM have made a significant impact in the petroleum retail market. XTRAMILE with over 80 % market share

 

 IndianOil was the first to launch branded Diesel in the high volume diesel vehicle segment. XTRAMILE is now sold at over 1968 Petrol stations in 1042 markets in the country while XTRAPREMIUM is sold at over 846 Petrol Stations in 279 markets. XTRAPREMIUM has notched up a market share of 30 %.

 

“IndianOil clearly identified potential growth areas where owners and drivers are looking at performance and launched XTRAMILE in these markets,” says Dr. N.G.Kannan, Director(Marketing),

 

“We intend to scale up the number of retail outlets selling XTRAMILE and XTRAPREMIUM to enhance our market share. By March 2005, we expect to increase by 50% the Retail Outlets selling XTRAMILE and XTRAPREMIUM. With the emission control standards going up and the new benchmarks expected under the Automotive Fuel Policy, XTRAPREMIUM with 91 Octane will simply emerge as a new benchmark in the market.” said Dr.Kannan.

 

During the year, IndianOil commissioned 1122 Petrol Stations. Six new LPG Bottling plants were commissioned, adding capacity of 232 TMTPA at Gurgaon, Etawah, Una, Chenglepet, Coimbatore and Shimoga. Other facilities commissioned were two POL Supply Terminal / Depots at Gulbarga and Rourkee and 11 Bulk Bitumen Depots. IndianOil Aviation Service obtained new Aviation Business of Sri Lankan Airways, Thai Airways, Gulf Airways, Eva Air, Air Seychelles and Deccan Air.

 

For the next year 2004-05, IndianOil has proposed 1000 new Petrol Stations, which includes upgradation of new petrol stations with Retail Visual Identity, implementation of a Retail Automation Project as well as obtaining quality certifications.

 

 IndianOil’s new  XTRA outlets to be rolled out in 103 cities while Flagship Petrol Stations will be set up in the Golden Quadrilateral and National Highway network all at an estimated cost of Rs 1348 Crore.

 

Other investments proposed during the year include Procurement of LPG Equipments, Capacity augmentation/modernization of LPG bottling plants, Auto LPG stations etc. all at Rs 1250 Crore. 

 

The proposed investments also include other projects like the Koyali-Ratlam Tap of point(TOP), CBDU dockline at CPCL jetty, Trichy TOP on the Chennai Trichy Madurai pipeline, Branch pipeline to Chittogarh & Ajmer on KVSS(Chittorgarh TOP), Jaisidh TOP on HBJL all expected to cost Rs 268 Crore.
