BHEL bags Rs. 410 cr contract from NTPC

 

New Delhi, July 14, 2004

 

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order for setting up the 800 MW Koldam hydro electric project (HEP) in Himachal Pradesh.

 

Valued at Rs.410 Crore, the order for Koldam HEP (4x200 MW), has been placed on the BHEL consortium by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

 

The Hydro Turbine and Generator components for the project will be manufactured at BHEL's Bhopal plant, in addition to balance of plant. While the state-of-the-art controls, SCADA and Excitation Systems will be manufactured at the company's Electronics Division, Bangalore, the isolated Busduct will be supplied by BHEL’s Jhansi plant. Erection and commission services will be provided by the company's Power Sector - Northern Region.

 

BHEL has so far manufactured and supplied 385 hydro generating sets with a cumulative capacity of 16,275 MW to various utilities in India and abroad. These include 35 hydro sets corresponding to 1409 MW outside India, in various countries including Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, Azerbaijan and Bhutan.
