Bharatsinh Solanki takes over as MoS for Railways

Bharatsinh Solanki took over as Minister
of State for Railways here today. Prior to this, he was
holding the charge of Minister of State for Power since
May 2009.
Solanki is Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Anand,
Gujarat constituency.
In his brief interaction with the media at the time of
taking over, he said Railway is a service sector linked
with the common people. It has to meet the aspiration of
people and issues like punctuality, cleanliness and other
passenger amenities are important to tackle. |

He said the cooperation of people is also required to
strengthen railway services. He added that this quarter,
January to March, is crucial for completing all ongoing
projects.
''To match India’s GDP of 9 per cent, improvement in Railways
is very crucial,'' he further said.
Born on November 26, 1953 in Anand, Gujarat, Solanki did his
graduation in Civil Engineering. He has held several positions
and served three terms as a Member of Gujarat Legislative
Assembly during 1995-2004.
In 2003-04, he was the deputy leader of
opposition in Gujarat Legislative Assembly while in 2004, he
was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha. He was re-elected to 15th
Lok Sabha in 2009.
