A. K. Goyal Joins as Member Staff, Railway Board

New Delhi, February 27, 2009   A. K. Goyal took over as new Member Staff, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India. Prior to joining as Member Staff, Railway Board, A. K. Goyal was General Manager of East Coast Railway. Born on 2nd January 1951, A. K. Goyal did his Post-graduation from the University of Allahabad. Before joining the Railways, Goyal was Lecturer in Physics in a Degree College for 2 years and later served as Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer for one year.

A. K. Goyal joined Railway Services as an Officer of 1973 batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service. He worked in various capacities in Indian Railways. He held important assignments of Additional Member (Commercial), Railway Board, Chief Operations Manager, Northern Railway, Adviser (PM), Railway Board, Divisional Railway Manager, Mughalsarai Division, Eastern Railway and Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Lucknow Division, Northern Railway.

Goyal has also managed foreign Railways in Iraq and undergone training in Europe, USA and Korea.
