Rajasthan gets Rs. 42 cr under JNNURM

The Centre has sanctioned an amount of Rs 42 crore as under
second phase for integrated housing and slum area development
of Jodhpur City under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission (JNNURM). Earlier in first phase an amount of Rs 20.55
crore has already been sanctioned for 13 slum areas of Jodhpur
city under the same mission.
The Secretary to Local Self Governance, Rajasthan, Dr. Manjeet
Singh told that these sanctions were granted during a meeting
of Central Sectioning Committee held in New Delhi under the
Chairmanship of Union Urban Development Secretary Dr. Harjeet
Singh Anand.
In the scheme sanctioned under Phase second 1500 new houses
would be constructed and the job of repairing 200 old houses
would be taken up. Besides these the tasks of drinking water,
road, streetlight, library, community centre, Park and
drainage system would also be done. He told in first phase the
jobs of constructing 675 new houses and repairing 120 houses
in 13 slums were undertaken.
Dr Singh said in Rajasthan the job of constructing 32 thousand
new houses in 27 cities of state have already been undertaken.
Secretary, Union Urban Development to review progress report
in Udaipur
As according to Dr Manjeet Singh secretary, Union Urban
Development, Dr Harjeet Singh is to visit Udaipur on Thursday
for reviewing the on going progress in slum areas of Udaipur.
Besides this development jobs taken under Swarn Jayanti
Shaheri Rojgar Yojana for Below Poverty Line(BPL) families in
Udaipur,Bilwara and Chittorgarh districts would also be
evaluated.
