Spanish Minister of Environment Calls on Prof. Soz
| New Delhi, February 11, 2008
The Spanish Minister of Environment, Cristina Narbona,
and the Ambassador of Spain in India, lon de la Riva,
called on the Union Minister of Water Resources Prof.
Saifuddin Soz here today.
The Spanish Minister of Environment is currently in New
Delhi to participate in Delhi Sustainable Development
Summit 2008. |

The two Ministers discussed matters of mutual interest with
regard to water resources, environmental issues, the need for
cleaner atmosphere etc.
The Spanish Minister earnestly requested Prof. Soz to
ensure India's participation in the Expo Zaragoza, 2008
(Spain) being held from June 14 to Sep 13, 2008. Prof. Soz
assured that he had already taken up the matter with the
concerned authorities for India's participation.
The Spanish authorities would be hosting an International
Exposition devoted to Water and Sustainable Development
wherein countries of all the world's climate regions will be
participating. The future of water and its sustainable
development, it will be recalled, is one of the 21st century's
most important challenges.
