India & SA sign MoU on Agricultural Cooperation

The government has approved the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and South
Africa on agricultural cooperation, the MoU will be valid for
a period of five years.
A meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh on Thursday, gave its nod for the MoU which is
expected to promote further bilateral cooperation through
joint activities and exchanges in the areas of agriculture.
The MoU will cover various areas of agriculture, including
animals, fisheries, poultry, agricultural extension, land and
water management and its conservation, promotion of
agricultural trade and investment, Information and
Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters in New Delhi
on Thursday.
The Cabinet also gave its approval for signing of an agreement
between India and Zambia for the avoidance of double taxation
and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on
income.
"The agreement will stimulate the flow of investment,
technology and services from India to Zambia and vice versa,"
Dasmunsi said.
It will provide tax stability to the residents of India and
Zambia and facilitate mutual economic cooperation, the
minister said.
