OBC crosses One Lac Crore Business
milestone, inaugurates 1000th CBS branch & 600th ATM in Delhi

Vinod Rai, IAS, Secretary ( Financial Sector),
Ministry of Finance Govt. of India, today inauguarated 1000th
Centralised Banking Solution (CBS)Branch with 600th ATM of
Oriental Bank of Commerce at Preet Vihar, Delhi. With this,
Oriental Bank of Commerce has covered 93.1% of its total
business ( deposits, advances, trade finance and forex
transactions, etc.) through CBS environment.
Vinod Rai , IAS while inaugurating the 1000th CBS branch of
OBC, said that the availability of Dot(.)Net technology for
Internet Banking, Phone Banking, Any Branch Banking (ABB),
Multicity Cheque facility, Cash Management Services , Real
Time Gross Settlement ( RTGS ) and other modes of online
debits and credits such as NEFT, ECS & EFT, etc. makes OBC a
Tech-savy Bank, well equipped to offer State of Art high end
technology products for efficient customer service to its
existing and prospective clientele. This will also help OBC in
smooth switch over to implementation of BASEL II norms and
other compliance standards in short and medium term
perspectives.
Shri Rai said that OBC is a self contained bouquet amongst the
mid-sized banks and is catering to customer needs with tailor
made schemes for all the strata of societyof society including
SME, SSI, Agriculture, retail and Corporate Clients. The
services offered by Oriental Bank are matching to the global
standards. He also stated that Oriental Bank is the only Bank
which has taken up perhaps the highest level of over 93%
business on CBS amongst the Public Sector Banks, in a short
span of two years.
On this momentous occasion K.N.Prithviraj, CMD of the Bank
stated that out of a total of 1240 branches as on date, OBC
plans to take up another 50 branches on CBS by March 2007 so
as to raise the total number of CBS branches to 1050 by close
of this fiscal year. The Bank plans to cover the total network
of its existing Service Outlets viz. branches and ECs and also
the branches to be opened in future as well through CBS by
December 2007.
K.N.Prithviraj, CMD, Oriental Bank of Commerce further
announced that it is joyous occasion for OBC since the Bank
has crossed the milestone of achieving Rs.One Lac crore
Business on 22nd December 2006 and is expecting to reach more
than Rs One lac One thousand crore business on 31st December
2006. He thanked the valuable customers for their continued
patronage and placed on record the appreciation of dedicated
services being rendered by all staff members.
Shri Prithviraj also said that the Bank has an ATM Card Base
of more than six lac customers. Bank’s ATM Card named “PROTON
CARD” which combines the features of ATM card, Debit Card and
VISA Card can be used at 8000+ ATMs of other Banks connected
through MITR, NFS and OIC (an alliance of Oriental Bank of
Commerce, Indian Bank and Corporation Bank) network of ATMs
besides at all ATMs with VISA logo outside India. The Proton
Card of the Bank can also be used for making payments at more
than 50,000 Point of Sale (POS) Terminals installed at various
VISA enabled merchant establishments in India and abroad.
On this occasion of inauguration Vinod Rai, Secretary (
Financial Sector) also released a Compact Disk ( CD ) covering
the product details and operational guidelines on whole range
of IT Products & Services offered by OBC. For quick reference
of customers, a four page colourful Brochure on IT Products
and a mouse pad containing “How to operate” guidelines for
DOT(.) NET Internet Banking was also released by Shri Rai, IAS.
