President of the Republic
of Botswana to Visit India
New Delhi, December 06, 2006
The President of Republic of Botswana, H.E. Mr. Festus G
Mogae, accompanied by his wife, Madam Barbara Mogae, will pay
a State visit to India from December 7 to 13, 2006. This will
be President Mogae’s first official visit to India. The visit
comes 30 years after the first President of Botswana, Sir
Seretse Khama, visited India in 1976.
During the visit, President Mogae will meet the President,
the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister. The
discussions are expected to cover issues of bilateral,
regional and international importance. President Mogae is also
scheduled to have business level interaction. He will also
visit Chennai and Mumbai. During the visit, both sides expect
to sign agreements on Double Taxation Avoidance, General
Cooperation Agreement, Cultural Exchange Programme; and
Country Agreement on Pan African e-Network with TCIL.
