Reserves of GAIL’s Shwe field
reserves Certified
New Delhi, December 29, 2005.
The Original gas –in-place (OGIP) reserves of the Shwe field in Block A-1 offshore, Myanmar –one of GAIL’s International E&P venture, has been certified by Ryder Scott, an International third-party consulting firm. The OGIP is certified between 2.88 Trillion Cubic feet to 3.56 Trillion Cubic feet. GAIL, along with consortium members Daewoo International Corporation -Operator of the Block, OVL and Korea gas Corporation are carrying out exploration activity in the block A-1, Myanmar.
During the 2005-2006, the consortium has plans to drill six to seven wells in Blocks A-1 and A-3, which is an exploration block adjacent to A-1 and three appraisal wells at the Shwe Phyu field in block A1, two or three exploratory wells at the Shwe Nilar and Ngwe North prospects in block A-1, and one exploratory well in Block A-3.
GAIL has been considering all possible options of bringing the gas of A-1 to India. Several evacuation plans for the same have been conceptualized and its feasibility study has also been carried out by GAIL. GAIL team plans to visit Myanmar shortly to present its plans to bring the gas to Indian Markets to all the consortium members and subsequently to Ministry of Energy, Myanmar.
