Huge loss of life and property has been caused by the earthquake followed by tsunami waves in Southern India and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, that requires relief and rehabilitation on a massive scale.
Shri S. S. Kohli, Chairman & Managing Director, PNB, said that the Board of Punjab National Bank expressed deep sorrow over this calamity and decided to donate Rs.5 crore to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The Board also made appeal to all its employees to contribute their one-day’s salary to the PM’s Relief Fund.
Shri Kohli further said that PNB has authorized its various branches to collect donations for Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund free of charges.
The Bank is also taking steps to provide financial assistance and relief measures for its customers – industrial units, agriculturists, traders and others affected by this natural calamity as per RBI/IBA guidelines.
